Chinese original device maker (ODM) Topwise Communication will enter the Indian handset market with the launch of its COMIO handset brand. The company has appointed Sanjay Kalirona as as its chief executive and director for the Indian market.
Kalirona will be the first employee of Topwise with office in New Delhi. He is currently serving a notice period at Zen Mobile, and will join the Chinese ODM in May first week. He previously served Intex Technologies after spending more than 15 years at the IT peripherals-to-mobile phones company. He did a stint of a little over a year at Akai’s mobile phone division in between his tenure at Intex.
Topwise Communication is all set to enter the Indian handset market with the launch of its COMIO handset brand. Founded in June 2005, TopWise Communication is one of the biggest ODMs in China, and is among top three printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturers in the country. The ODM used to make products for many Indian handset makers, including leading brand Micromax.
According to a sources the company is eying the mid-range handset market, and is all set to launch its first product range of about 2-3 handsets around August, which will be around 6-12k price bracket.
