The Eveready journey started in India in 1905 while the company got incorporated in 1934, and became a part of the Williamson Magor Group in 1993. Throughout, they have maintained focus on deepening penetration into existing markets, foraying into new markets and catering to evolving customer requirements by increasing efficiency of existing products and adding new products to the product portfolio.
Eveready’s operations in India started through import of dry cell batteries and then marketing them across major cities. This led to the setting up of manufacturing facilities and a distribution network covering the entire country in order to maximize logistical efficiency and reduce time-to-market. Subsequently, this manufacturing presence was integrated forward into the manufacture and marketing of flashlights – a leading device category consuming batteries. At present, Eveready have high-speed manufacturing units, both for batteries and flashlights, with in-house facilities for metal flashlights along with a fully automated injection-moulding set-up for plastic flashlights.
Eveready has an extensive and deep-rooted pan-India distribution network for its wide product portfolio that meets India’s portable energy requirements.
Eveready has an NABL accredited computerised testing facility to check lifecycle and capacity of primary and rechargeable batteries. In addition, they have a world-class design and testing facility for flashlights, CFL bulbs, LEDs and rechargeable products. They have also been one of the early movers in LED technology, introducing customers to the digiLED range of products.
